Connecting Arts & Culture in Pickens County

Every spring

Youth Art Month

A free show of student artwork from schools across Pickens County, with prizes for students and teachers.

Every spring PACA celebrates Youth Art Month with a free show of student artwork from across Pickens County. Youth Art Month is a national program run by the Council for Art Education to encourage support for school art programs and promote art material safety.

It is a chance to recognize what young people learn through art: problem solving, creativity, observation and communication. Families, teachers and neighbors come out to see the work, cheer on the winners and enjoy refreshments.

How students take part

Teachers choose artwork from their students to display based on merit. Home schooled students, or students who were not recommended by a teacher, can still take part by reaching out through our contact form.

Awards

Teachers can win a $250 grant for classroom use plus $250 for personal use. High school and junior high students compete for cash prizes in each division.

Setup and show days

Setup usually begins the day before the show and runs until one hour before opening. The gallery is open to the public in the late afternoon and early evening, with judging on the final day. Watch the events calendar for this year’s dates.
